The Bunkhouse

This is where it all began…needing to “get away”..OK…so only 100′ of so but what more could a kid want for the summer…a cot in a bunkhouse and 100′ feet away from Mom and Dad…time to dream about that great big world out there

Now the Bunkhouse has wheels…big ones…and the ability to roam around these beautiful United States…

It also has a kitchen, “office’, bathroom and all the other trappings of modern life. As my daughter said…”….kind of like an apartment on wheels…” Smart kid my daughter ☺

I purchased a so-called “new-to-me” 2007 Tiffin Phaeton. It’s 40 feet and the (sometimes unhappy) marriage of house and truck that will transform my memory of what the original bunkhouse might have been!! It’s an amazing condo on wheels.

When I put out the 4 (yup –count ‘em—four!!) it’s actually quite spacious. Well, maybe that’s an overstatement but it is bigger than a couple of my first NYC apartments.

While quite well appointed to begin with, I have to confess to making a couple of major investments that really transformed the RV into somewhat more of a residential experience for me—

I sprung for a stack washer and dryer and a residential refrigerator—

yup—the foodie in me needed a big frig to stock up on all the provisions that won’t be available in many of the more remote places.

Call it a quality of life decision ☺

Anyway, it’s my new home and home is now where I park it….

See you down the road……..

Love your blog!! I remember meeting you in Livingston, TX last year at “RV Bootcamp” . You were still without a rig then but doing serious rig research and polling the mindsets of “full-timers”. I was amazed and flattered that you even directed what seemed like hundreds of questions to me, an extreme “newbie” then at full-timing with only a few months of experience!! At that time I was somewhat doubtful that you would actually ever take the “big giant scary leap” into this lifestyle. But I remember vividly how you lit up more and more as you hit me with your excited rapid fire questions. I should have never doubted you!! For me, living and traveling full-time in my Tiffin for almost a year has been THE BEST decision I’ve ever made. I wouldn’t give up this lifestyle for anything! So, Stephen, welcome to my world!! I hope our paths will meet again someday because now it’s my turn to pick your brain!! Wishing you happy and safe travels. Carleen
